ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say a suburban St. Louis woman has been arrested after fatally shooting a man.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 31-year-old Karen Reisinger, of St. Charles, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 26-year-old Carlton Eugene Ford Jr. She's jailed on $250,000 bail.
Reisinger alleged that Ford entered her apartment Saturday with a handgun, and she shot him at least twice in self-defense.
Police said their investigation revealed that there had been an earlier disturbance in which Ford and another person entered Reisinger's unlocked apartment and demanded money and drugs. She alleged Ford had a handgun and sprayed pepper spray at her and other family members.
The shooting happened when Ford returned and knocked on the door. One round was fired while Ford was on the ground.
