BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — Police in Massachusetts are investigating a series of paintball gun attacks in two communities, including one that left a 12-year-old boy with a serious eye injury.

Cassandra Hilts tells The Enterprise that her son, Cody, was playing outside their Brockton home at about 6 p.m. Monday when she heard him screaming.

A dark-colored sedan with four young men inside had driven past and fired paintballs, striking the boy in the right eye. He went to the hospital and the eye remains bandaged.

Brockton police say three other people reported paintball attacks in the city. Police in neighboring Whitman also reported a paintball attack.

Police think the shootings are connected because all the victims gave similar descriptions of a dark four-door sedan with four young men inside.
