BALTIMORE (AP) _ Andy Ashby, obtained by the Atlanta Braves in a trade with Philadelphia on Wednesday, will make his debut against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.

It will be the third time this season Ashby has faced the Orioles. He experienced mixed success with the Phillies _ the right-hander gave up seven runs in 6 2-3 innings on June 11 at Camden Yards before limiting Baltimore to one earned run in eight innings at The Vet on July 8.

``The memories I have in this park from last time aren't the same as the ones I have of pitching against them at home,'' he said Thursday. ``When I threw against them here, I got the ball up. You do that here, you're going to get hit. Tomorrow, hopefully I can pitch instead of just throw.''

Ashby, who figured he was going to be dealt by the last-place Phillies, was delighted to end up with first-place Atlanta.

``It was a weird couple of days,'' he said. ``I just want to give us a chance to win.''
