AKRON, Ohio (AP) _ Daron Alcorn kicked five field goals and Vic Green returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown to lead Akron past Temple 29-15 on Saturday.
The senior kicker missed his first attempt, a 32-yarder in the first quarter, but then made three before halftime and two more the second half.
Chris Paliscak threw a sideline pass in the second quarter that Green picked off. He coasted into the end zone. It was one of six Temple passes intercepted. The Zips' Chris Owens intercepted two.
Coach Gerry Faust's Zips improved to 6-3, as the Owls slipped to 1-8 with their eighth straight loss.
Akron's offense finally scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, when Darrien Gouch scored on a 4-yard run. Receiver Lavern Bass made six catches for 121 yards, including a 65-yarder.
Temple scored two second-half touchdowns on short runs.
