New York woman pleads guilty for causing opioid death
Aug. 18, 2018
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A western New York woman who sold a fatal dose of fentanyl has pleaded guilty to causing another woman's death.
Monroe County prosecutors say 27-year-old Nikki Phillips will serve four years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to criminally negligent homicide and drug charges.
Investigators say Phillips sold a 31-year-old woman fentanyl shortly before the woman died from an opioid overdose in her Irondequoit home in November. The woman, whose name wasn't released, was among 220 people in Monroe County to die from an overdose in 2017.
Phillips will be sentenced in October.
