A body found in Southeast Texas canal ID'd as missing woman
Aug. 22, 2017
GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — Authorities have identified a body recovered from a canal in a waterfront Southeast Texas community as that of a woman who was reported missing last week.
The Galveston County medical examiner's office has identified the body as that of 30-year-old Jessica McDonald. The body was found late Friday against a bulkhead in the waters of Bayou Vista, 300 yards from the house where she had been last seen.
Sheriff Henry Trochesset says the cause of McDonald's death remains unclear but toxicology test results are pending. He said homicide has been ruled out.
Trochesset says that McDonald was last seen the night of Aug. 15 leaving her sister's Bayou Vista home with a friend. The next day, the friend was found alone and disoriented in her car but otherwise uninjured.
