Knicks Fill Out Camp Roster

NEW YORK (AP) _ The New York Knicks signed free agents Ivano Newbill and Antonio Smith to non-guaranteed contracts Friday, filling out their training camp roster.
Newbill, a three-year veteran, last played in the NBA in 1997-98 with Vancouver. The 6-foot-9 forward has averaged 1.5 points and 2.6 rebounds over 134 career games.
Smith, an undrafted rookie from Michigan State, averaged 6.7 points and 7.9 rebounds in college.
The 6-foot-8, 250-pound Smith, a forward, was acquitted Thursday by a jury on charges of breaking a cooler lock and stealing a 40-ounce beer from a convenience store in East Lansing, Mich. Smith was accused along with a former Michigan State teammate, Mateen Cleaves.
The Knicks' roster now stands at 17. Centers Patrick Ewing and Chris Dudley are injured will not be available for the team's first practice Tuesday in Charleston, S.C.
