COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) _ Ed Ryan, senior manager of sports medicine for the U.S. Olympic Committee, has been promoted to director of sports medicine.
Ryan, a 15-year member of the USOC's sports medicine staff, served as head athletic trainer for the 1992 and 1996 U.S. Olympic Teams, three Pan American Games teams and two Goodwill Games teams.
A native of Salem, Mass., Ryan replaces Bob Beeten, who led the USOC's sports medicine program for 22 years. He will oversee clinics and staff at the Olympic training centers at Lake Placid, N.Y.; Chula Vista, Calif.; Marquette, Mich.; and Colorado Springs.
Ryan also will oversee games-support programs at the Olympics, Pan American, Paralympic and World University games.
