NEW YORK (AP) _ CBS won the latest Nielsens with its top-rated coverage of the NCAA basketball championship.

The title game April 5 received a 22.2 rating, meaning it was seen in nearly 21 million homes, the A.C. Nielsen Co. said Tuesday.

In the overall ratings, CBS won with an 11.8 for the week. ABC had an 11.2, and NBC a 10.4. Each ratings point equals 931,000 TV homes.

ABC had five of the Top 10 shows, including a rerun of ''Home Improvement'' at No. 2, an original ''Roseanne'' in third and ''20-20'' in fourth.

NBC's usually third-place evening newscast got its highest ratings in six months, offering a housewarming gift of sorts for the news division's new president. NBC was No. 2 with an 8.4 rating. ABC led with a 10.0. CBS had a 7.9.

''I have a very large extended family and they're all tuning in,'' NBC News President Andrew Lack said Tuesday, his second day on the job.
