OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) _ The Oakland Athletics, seeking to bolster a bullpen that has struggled in recent days, obtained right-hander Tim Worrell from Cleveland on Sunday for a player to be named.

Worrell, who has a 18-29 career record with San Diego, Detroit and Cleveland, has alternated between the starting rotation and the bullpen throughout his career.

He began this season in the Tigers' rotation, going 2-6 with a 6.61 ERA in nine starts before moving to the bullpen May 29. He was released by Detroit and claimed on waivers by Cleveland on June 24. He appeared in three games in relief for the Indians, posting a 5.06 ERA.
