AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) _ Sophomore LaToya Howell, Air Force's leading scorer and rebounder, was indefinitely suspended Friday for an undisclosed violation of academy rules and probably will miss the rest of the season.
``LaToya meant a lot to our team, but life goes on,'' coach Ardie McInelly said in a written statement.
Academy officials did not return an after-hours phone call seeking comment.
Howell was averaging 17.4 points and 4.9 rebounds. She also led the Falcons in assists (7) and steals (3.2).
Air Force (7-10, 1-3 Mountain West) has 10 games remaining before the conference tournament.
Howell, a Chicago native, said in the release that she hopes to learn from her mistake.
``She'll continue to lead our team every day in practice,'' McInelly said. ``She is an awesome person who just made a mistake,''
