VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Kevin Elster drove in four runs to lead the New York Mets to an 11-5 exhibition victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday.
The game was televised nationally on NBC.
Elster drove in two runs with a two-run double and two more on a single as the Mets improved their spring record to 10-7.
The rookie shortstop's double capped a five-run first inning off loser Orel Hershiser that gave New York command of the game.
Dave Magadan also drove in three runs on a pair of hits for New York, while Lee Mazzilli, Darryl Strawberry, Mookie Wilson and Keith Hernandez also had two hits.
The Dodgers scored four runs off New York ace Dwight Gooden in his five innings as the right-hander allowed nine hits and struck out two.
Second baseman Steve Sax had three hits and scored three runs to lead the Dodger attack.
Kirk Gibson and John Shelby added a pair of hits apiece, while Pedro Guerrero drove two runs.
