CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — More charges have been filed against a former substitute teacher in North Carolina accused of having inappropriate contact with students.
Media outlets reported 31-year-old Lamont Deshon Barrett was charged Thursday with eight counts of indecent liberties with a student and one count of disseminating obscenity.
Barrett is a former substitute teacher at Rocky River High School in Mint Hill, just east of Charlotte.
Barrett was arrested Sept. 14 on charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Police say Barrett used his cellphone to show pornography to a 16-year-old student while in the class. Police say Barrett was alone with the student immediately after the class.
Mint Hill police say more students have come forward with similar allegations.
Barrett was removed from class Sept 1 and fired Sept. 14.
