ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) _ Very Vegas sprinted to an early lead and held off favored Aspen Gal in the stretch by a neck Sunday to win the $111,350 La Habra Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita.

Very Vegas, ridden by Mick Ruis, carried 118 pounds and ran 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:13:99. She paid $35.40, $13, and $8.40.

Aspen Gal, the 17-10 choice, finished second. Ridden by Alex Solis, she returned $4.80 and $4. Fortunately paid $8.40 to show.

Very Vegas, a Kentucky-bred by Storm Boot, has won five times in nine career starts. The $66,810 first prize bumped her earnings to $178,010.
