CARSON, Calif. (AP) _ The Los Angeles Galaxy traded midfielder Simon Elliott to the Columbus Crew on Monday for a first-round choice in 2005 MLS draft.

The 29-year-old Elliott had 10 goals and 33 assists in 122 games over five seasons for the Galaxy. He had one goal and two assists in 24 games last season.

The trade of Elliot, a member of New Zealand's national team, opens a spot on the Galaxy's roster for another international player. MLS teams are limited to three senior international players.
