UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United Nations says Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will visit Cuba next week, but there's no confirmation of any meeting with former President Fidel Castro.

A spokesman for Ban said Friday that the secretary-general will arrive in Havana on Sunday for a summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.

Farhan Haq says Ban will meet with leaders of the member countries and with Cuban officials before leaving the country on Wednesday.

The 87-year-old Castro earlier this month made his first public appearance in nine months, attending the opening of an art studio in the Cuban capital.
