KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ John Kitna capped a 72-yard drive, helped by six Kansas City penalties, with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Itula Mili as Seattle took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Chiefs penalties included a taunting call on Eric Hicks after he sacked John Kitna.
The 14-play scoring drive used up nine minutes of the quarter.
The taunting call had given Seattle a first down at the Kansas City 45.
The Chiefs were also flagged for an illegal hands to the face penalty and four offsides penalties.
Kansas City drove to the Seattle 20 on the opening drive of the game, but Pete Stoyanovich was wide left on a field-goal attempt after the drive stalled.
The drive included an 18-yard completion from Elvis Grbac to Sylvester Morris and an 11-yard completion to Troy Drayton after the Chiefs opened with three straight running plays by Mike Cloud.
The game started with Seattle offsides on the opening kickoff.
