FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts state police have identified a Rhode Island woman who was killed in a crash off Interstate 95 in Foxboro.

Authorities say 24-year-old Phoenix Smith of Cranston died when her SUV struck a guardrail in the breakdown lane and crashed into trees off the southbound side of the highway near exit 6B shortly before 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

State police are trying to determine why Smith lost control of her vehicle.

Troopers say Smith ended up trapped in her SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.
