HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah (AP) _ An F-16 fighter jet crashed Saturday near Saudi Arabia's Dhahran Air Base and the pilot ejected, said a spokesman at the plane's home base.

The crash happened shortly after takeoff, but other details including the cause, the pilot's name and condition were not immediately available, said Lt. James Wilson, spokesman for Hill's 388th Fighter Wing.

A Pentagon spokesman had no immediate information.
