Coroner identifies girl, 9, dead in Pennsylvania house fire

LEHIGHTON, Pa. (AP) — The county coroner has identified a 9-year-old girl killed in a Pennsylvania house fire over the weekend.
Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller says Vahnne Gower asphyxiated from smoke before she could be rescued from her burning home in Mahoning Township, Carbon County.
The fire was reported about 1:30 a.m. Saturday and state troopers from the Lehighton barracks were continuing to investigate the cause.
The girl's father and were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital's Cedar Crest campus. Authorities didn't immediately release their names. The girl's mother reportedly escaped unharmed.
