NEW YORK (AP) _ Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants has withdrawn his appeal of a three-game suspension for charging the mound and instigating a bench-clearing melee in the Aug. 2 game against Philadelphia.
The National League said Thursday that Bonds will begin serving his suspension Friday, when the Giants start a three-game series against Florida. He will be eligible to play again Tuesday, when San Francisco plays at Atlanta.
