PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Gary Brennan's 3-yard TD pass to Chip Smith with 5:01 to play gave Fordham a 35-28 victory over Brown on Saturday, the Rams' first win over a Division I- AA opponent since they moved up from Division III last year.
Brennan's second TD pass of the game broke a 28-28 tie. Brown (0-3) drove to the Rams' 15, but Rich Willis' pass for Mike Geroux in the end zone was incomplete with 2:52 remaining.
The Rams entered the game 0-7 against Division I-AA opponents since moving up to the higher classification.
Freshman running back Darren Wallace, who finished with 198 yards on 29 carries, kept the Rams in the game in the first half, which ended in a 21-21 tie.
After the Bruins took an early lead on the first of Willis' two touchdown passes, Wallace raced 64 yards for the tying touchdown.
Nick Badalato, who had 197 yards on 22 carries, put Brown back in front with a 61-yard TD run. But the Rams (1-3) moved in front in the second quarter on Brennan's 12-yard TD pass to Tom Garlick and Wallace's 1-yard plunge.
Brown, which gained more than 300 of its 450 total yards in the first half, tied the game on Willis' second TD pass, a 12-yarder to Rodd Torbert.
Fordham, which finished with 434 total yards, took a 28-21 lead midway through the third quarter on fullback Tony Iasiello's 1-yard run. But the Bruins took the kickoff and 69 yards on 10 plays for the tying touchdown, with Willis scoring on a 1-yard quarterback sneak.
