SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Hamid Oubadriss of France won the hilly San Francisco Marathon, but his time was way off the course record and his own best.

``It was a hard race,'' he said of the 26.2-mile trek through the streets of San Francisco. ``Twenty-six miles with hills makes it a difficult course. I hate to race on hills.''

Oubadriss was timed in 2 hours, 23 minutes, 54 seconds, far off the course record of 2:17:34, set four years ago by Kenyan Patrick Muturi. His best marathon time is 2:14.

Kenya's Salina Chirchir won the women's division. Her time of 2:45:36 was five minutes slower than the record set by Russian Tatiana Titova in 1993.
