AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) _ Ricky Davis scored 27 points to lead the West to a 124-106 victory over the East in the Magic Johnson High School All-Star Game on Sunday.
Davis' point total was the most scored in the game since Rasheed Wallace, now of the Portland Trail Blazers, had 30 in 1993. Davis, who plans to attend Iowa, outshone teammate Tracy McGrady, who is skipping high school and going directly to the NBA.
McGrady finished with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting, then wowed the crowd with a spectacular series of slams in the postgame dunk contest.
Davis scored 14 of the West's first 18 points, leading his team to a 27-20 lead after one quarter. McGrady, playing the even quarters, had 11 in the second, and the West moved to a commanding 60-44 lead at the half.
After Davis scored 14 more in the third, making it 93-70, the fourth quarter turned into a preview of the dunk contest. At one point, the West had a five-on-zero fastbreak.
Dion Glover, who has yet to decide on a college, had 21 points for the West, and Duke-bound Chris Burgess had 15. Melvin Ely (Fresno State) scored 24 points for the East and shared the MVP honors with Davis.
Lamar Odom, one of the nation's top two players, announced earlier in the day he will attend UNLV. Odom finished the game with three points and six rebounds.
