Nat Borchers' own goal helps Galaxy avoid rare home loss

CARSON, California (AP) — A late Nat Borchers' own goal canceled out Fernando Adi's opener for Portland and allowed the Los Angeles Galaxy to salvage a 1-1 draw in a game between the last two MLS Cup champions on Sunday.
Adi opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, driving in a low, right-foot shot from Diego Valeri's pass.
Veteran center back Borchers attempted to clear Sebastian Lletget's cross in the 84th with a diving header, which deflected into the Timbers' and conceded the equalizer.
The Galaxy are unbeaten in 39 of their last 41 home games.
At Houston, Chad Marshall scored four minutes into stoppage time as the Seattle Sounders earned a 1-1 draw.
Marshall buried a shot from close range after Oalex Anderson's cross deflected off goalkeeper Joe Willis and defender Raul Rodriguez.
Giles Barnes scored for Houston in the 35th minute, when he turned and flicked a pass from Jalil Anibaba into the upper left corner from 15 yards.
New York City was held 0-0 at home by Chicago, with Matt Lampson making eight saves to keep a clean sheet for the third successive game for the fire
