HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Sebastien Lareau and Alex O'Brien upset top seeds Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 Friday to win the Green Group and advance to the semifinals of the Phoenix-ATP World Doubles championships.

The victory by Lareau, of Canada, and his American partner, prevented the defending champions from Australia from qualifying for the semifinals for a seventh straight year.

Rick Leach and Jonathan Stark also advanced to the semifinals, beating Don Johnson and Francisco Montana 6-3, 6-4.

Leach and Stark have reached the finals in five events this season, but are still looking for their first title. They will meet Paul Haarhuis and Jacob Eltingh on Saturday.

Also making the semifinals were India's Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, who defeated Trevor Kronemann and David Macpherson 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

Paes and Bhupathi have won six doubles titles this year and will play Lareau and O'Brien.
