Turner Decides To Stay at Indiana
Apr. 16, 1998
MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) _ Junior guard Rob Turner has decided to return to Indiana for his senior season after meeting with coach Bob Knight.
The 6-foot-4 junior college transfer, benched for the final four games of last season, said he met with Knight on Monday and decided not to transfer.
``I told him I probably would like to stay,'' Turner told The Times of Northwest Indiana. ``I just want to do what I can do and get my degree.''
Turner averaged 7.3 points in 28 games for Indiana after a two-year stay at Tyler (Texas) Junior College. He scored 25 points in a December loss to eventual national champion Kentucky.
Turner said Knight told him that he needed to practice harder and be more receptive to the coaching staff's suggestions.
