Police find rabbits, turtles, cats abandoned in house

ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police have found more than 20 animals including cats, rabbits and turtles abandoned in a New Hampshire home.
Thirty-six-year-old Teresa Gordon, of Rochester, has been charged with 20 counts of cruelty to animals. She turned herself into Exeter police Friday and was released on $5,000 bail. She is due to appear in Exeter District Court April 10.
Police discovered the animals last month after a Rockingham County Sherriff's deputy came to a house in Exeter to serve an eviction notice. Gordon said she had arranged for someone to care for them.
Ten cats, five rabbits, three gerbils, two turtles and one guinea pig were found alive and transported to the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The guinea pig later died.
Gordon couldn't be reached for comment.
