TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A man suspected in the fatal stabbing of a young man outside a convenience store has had bail set at $1 million while prosecutors decide on charges.

The News Tribune reports 20-year-old Tyler Jacob Wallace was arrested Monday for investigation of second-degree murder in the stabbing of 18-year-old Edward Anthony Pilot II in the Fredrickson area.

Pierce County deputy prosecutor Jared Ausserer asked the court to hold Wallace with bail and said investigators are determining whether self-defense was involved.

The sheriff's office says a fight was reported before midnight Monday and that deputies found Pilot on the ground near a plastic knife handle.

Deputies arrested Wallace at his grandmother's home.

Investigators say the two men knew each other and had some sort of ongoing dispute.
