DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) _ The former president of the Iowa chapter of Easter Seals was charged Wednesday with embezzling nearly $231,000.

Prosecutors say Martha Wittkowski, 44, of Pleasantville, used credit cards and wrote unauthorized payroll checks to steal the money.

Wittkowski, who was fired Jan. 7 after an outside audit last November found the money missing, was jailed on $65,000 bail.

The money had been earmarked for improvements to an Easter Seals camp for disabled adults.
