COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ Lori Joyner, who scored 24 points, made a driving layup with one second left to give South Carolina a 55-54 victory over No. 19 Clemson on Wednesday night.
Clemson (13-5) led 50-41 with 6:20 left on a Kerry Boyatt-Hall 3-pointer. But a 12-2 run keyed by Joyner's six points gave the Lady Gamecocks (13-6) a 53-52 lead with 1:13 left.
A driving layup by Joyner capped the rally.
The Lady Tigers answered with a layup by Shandy Bryan with 43 seconds left to take a 54-53 lead.
Clemson called timeout with 15 seconds left. But Boyatt-Hall was called for a double-dribble violation, and the ball went to South Carolina for the winnign shot.
Bryan had 22 points for Clemson.
