WASHINGTON (AP) _ Ben Wallace and Otis Thorpe each scored 20 points as the Washington Wizards handed the Cleveland Cavaliers their seventh straight loss, 97-86 Thursday night.
Danny Ferry scored 18 points for the Cavaliers, who were all but eliminated from playoff contention.
Wallace was 9-for-9 from the field as the Wizards snapped a seven-game losing streak.
After falling behind by 17 points in the first half, the Wizards rallied and took a 68-67 lead on Chris Whitney's three-point play with 47 seconds left in the third quarter.
Whitney scored eight points during a 19-5 run that extended Washington's lead to 82-71.
The Cavaliers, who shot 67 percent from the field in the first half, used a 19-3 run to take a 51-34 lead. Andrew DeClercq and Danny Ferry were a combined 9-for-11 from the field for the Cavs in the the first half.
Notes: Cavs forward Corie Blount will undergo surgery on his injured left knee Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season. ... He joins Shawn Kemp (sprained foot), Brevin Knight (fractured hand) and Zydrunas Ilgauskas (fractured foot) on Cleveland's injured list. ... With four games left, Cleveland (21-25) is in danger of finishing with its first losing record since 1990-91.
