HOLBROOK, N.Y. (AP) _ Coleco Industries will move the operations where its Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble games are manufactured from Long Island to existing upstate New York plants to reduce its overhead, the company said Friday.

The board games are manufactured by Selchow and Righter, which Coleco purchased earlier this year for $75 million.

A plant and an office employing 100 people are to be shut down by the end of the first quarter of 1987, according to Barbara Wruck, a spokeswoman for the West Hartford, Conn.-based Coleco.

The properties have been put up for sale and the employees have been offered transfers, she said.

''It is just not financially feasible to maintain separate operations,'' Ms. Wruck said. The consolidation ''will effectively reduce our overhead.''

Coleco has manufacturing and packaging facilites in the upstate communities of Amsterdam, Mayfield and Gloversville, where products including its Cabbage Patch Kids and Wrinkles toys are handled, Ms. Wruck said. The Selchow and Righter products likely will be produced at the Amsterdam plant, she said.

She said Coleco planned to maintain and expand its Selchow and Righter line with a major marketing push in 1987.
