BLACKTOWN, Australia (AP) _ Hensley Meulens hit a two-run homer Sunday as the Netherlands wrapped up its Olympic baseball tournament with a quick 3-2 victory over Italy.
Two teams already eliminated from medal competition played the fastest game in Olympic baseball history at 2 hours, 13 minutes. Italy beat Australia 8-7 in 12 innings the previous night in the longest game in Olympic history _ 4:25.
Meulens hit a two-out homer in the first and the Netherlands (3-4) added a run in the fourth with the help of an error.
Daniele Frignani hit a two-run homer in the fifth for Italy (3-4).
Meulens had the biggest hit in Dutch baseball history during the tournament, a bases-loaded double that set up a 4-2 upset of Cuba.
