Lincoln garbage collection co. fined $332K by state patrol
Jul. 12, 2018
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Patrol has fined a Lincoln garbage collection company nearly $332,000 in civil penalties following an investigation into safety problems with its commercial vehicles.
The patrol said Thursday that $331,920 had been levied against Von Busch and Sons Inc.
The patrol says the investigation came after the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration listed Von Busch among carriers with severe maintenance and operation problems. The patrol also cited a Feb. 15 crash that killed a worker.
The patrol says the investigation showed Von Busch had taken only minimal corrective action following a previous fine. Prior to that, Von Busch had been the subject of seven compliance reviews from 2002 to 2016 that yielded numerous safety violations.
A message left Thursday afternoon with an answering service for the company was not immediately returned.
