MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says a truancy crackdown netted 19 students in Moreno Valley.
Officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department's School Resource Unit conducted the city-wide curfew enforcement between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The officers looked for juvenile students who either failed to report to campus at the start of the school day or left without permission while school was in session.
The violators were detained and taken to their schools for disciplinary proceedings and were issued a citation to appear in court.
