Grandson of famed US preacher out as pastor after affair

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (AP) — A prominent Florida church says a grandson of a famed U.S. preacher has stepped down as its pastor after a "moral failure."
Tullian Tchividjian, the grandson of Rev. Billy Graham, a renowned protestant minister who rallied crowds and served as an adviser to several U.S. presidents, resigned last week for actions that "disqualify him from continuing to serve as senior pastor," the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church said Monday. The church, located in the city of Fort Lauderdale outside Miami, offered no further details.
Tchividjian did not comment on the matter on his webpage and did not respond to a call seeking comment. In a statement to The Washington Post, he acknowledged having an affair.
Tchividjian joined the seminary after years of youthful transgressions, offering a prodigal son story when he ascended to the ministry. He became pastor of Coral Ridge in 2009.
