Treasury Bond Prices Move Lower

NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were slightly lower at midday.
The price of the Treasury's main 30-year bond was off 1/16 point, or 62 1/2 cents per $1,000 in face value, around midday, while its yield rose to 5.56 percent from 5.55 percent late Wednesday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Yields on three-month Treasury bills held at 4.59 percent as the discount was unchanged at 4.47 percent. Six-month yields rose to 4.67 percent as the discount edged up 0.01 percentage point to 4.50 percent. One-year yields were quoted at 4.73 percent as the discount held at 4.51 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
