DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) - Keith Veney scored 20 of his 30 points in the second half Wednesday night, leading Marshall to an 85-81 comeback victory over Davidson.

Veney had 3-point jumpers to spark a 26-6 rally, as Marshall (9-3, 1-0 Southern Conference) converted 66.7 percent from the floor.

Davidson (6-6, 0-1) opened a 71-56 advantage when Mark Donnelly's 3-point jumper capped a 17-7 run with 12:01 remaining in the game. Donnelly finished with 27 points.

But the Thundering Herd held Davidson scoreless for ten minutes. A free throw by Carlton King gave Marshall an 82-77 lead at the 1:22 mark. The Wildcats drew no closer than three points from there.

John Brannen scored 16 points, King added 13 and Sidney Coles and Derrick Wright scored 10 each for Marshall.

Narcisse Ewodo scored 14 points, while Chadd Holmes and Davor Halbauer added 10 apiece for the Wildcats.
