BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A jury has convicted a Bismarck man accused of firing a shotgun at a law enforcement officer during a 15-hour standoff two years ago.
Jurors deliberated about 90 minutes Wednesday before delivering a guilty verdict for 38-year-old Brandon Lyon on charges of attempted murder, terrorizing and illegally possessing a weapon. He could face up to 35 years in prison.
The Bismarck Tribune reports Lyon took the stand and made his own closing argument. He told the jury he had no intention of hurting anyone. A judge has ordered a pre-sentence evaluation.
