GENEVA (AP) — Slalom specialist Veronika Velez Zuzulova of Slovakia has injured a knee in training and could miss the entire Olympics season.

Zuzulova, who placed third in the World Cup slalom standings last season, tells ski news website fisalpine.com the initial diagnosis suggested she ruptured ligaments. She will have a second MRI this week.

The 29-year-old racer says "if it's completely broken and I can't ski, I will have surgery and plan to come back next season."

Zuzulova's career-best season left her trailing only World Cup slalom champion Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States and overall champion Tina Maze of Slovenia.

Zuzulova got her first World Cup victory at Semmering, Austria, and also won the parallel racing event at Munich.

Her injury was caused by a fall in Hintertux, Austria.
