Ex-police chief settles suit claiming wrongful firing
Sep. 06, 2018
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A former Pennsylvania police chief who claimed in a lawsuit he was fired in retaliation for testifying against an underling has reached a $600,000 settlement with the township.
Andrew Lisiecki was police chief in North Huntingdon Township when four of seven township commissioners voted to fire him in September 2016.
Lisiecki contended in a federal lawsuit filed in December 2016 that he was fired for testifying truthfully in hearings that led an arbitrator to uphold the firing of an officer allied with those commissioners.
That officer allegedly tried to keep another officer from charging a township commissioner in a road-rage incident.
The Tribune Review reports Lisiecki's attorney announced the settlement on Thursday.
A message seeking comment from the township's attorney wasn't immediately returned Thursday.
