3rd Hoops Player Quits Southern Cal
Mar. 25, 1999
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Forward Greg Lakey is leaving the Southern California basketball team _ the third Trojans player to make such a move in the last three months.
Lakey, who has two years of eligibility remaining, said he was frustrated over the unpredictable nature of his playing time with the Trojans. He averaged 4.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in 26 games as a sophomore this past season. He started 19 games as a freshman.
``I already spent two years here and I haven't accomplished what I wanted to accomplish,'' said Lakey, who asked for and was granted a release from his scholarship. ``I did what I could and I couldn't get in there.''
Guard Quincy Wilder, a junior college transfer who played one season for the Trojans and has one year of eligibility remaining, quit the team last week, and sophomore guard Kevin Augustine left in December and enrolled at Fullerton College.
