Tommy Armour Shoots 60 at Vegas
Oct. 14, 1999
LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Tommy Armour III eagled his last hole for a 12-under-par 60 today in the Las Vegas Invitational, the second-best score on the PGA Tour this year.
Armour's 60 was only the fourth ever shot on a par-72 course in Tour history. Three golfers have had rounds of 59. The most the recent, David Duval, rode one to victory earlier this year in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
Armour, who shot 2-under 70 in his first round Wednesday, played this round at the Las Vegas Country Club, where Craig Barlow shot a 61 in first-round play.
Armour had two eagles, nine birdies and a sole bogey.
