LONDON (AP) — West Ham's new home from next season will seat 60,000 fans after the capacity for soccer at London's Olympic Stadium was increased following strong demand for season tickets.
The Premier League club says an additional 6,000 seats will now be available on match days in the east London stadium which has been reconfigured since the 2012 Olympics while retaining track and field facilities. Arsenal's Emirates Stadium also has a capacity of 60,000
West Ham plays for the last time at Upton Park in May after 112 years. West Ham signed a 99-year lease for the Olympic Stadium with the 2012 Games legacy body.
West Ham remains in contention to qualify for the Champions League for the first time, only a point behind fourth-place Manchester City with eight games to go.
