Dec. 11, 2013
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Leominster man charged with embezzling almost $30,000 from a youth hockey organization where he volunteered to oversee finances has been indicted.
Roger Lee was scheduled to appear in Winchendon District Court on Wednesday, but the indictment handed up Tuesday bumped his case up to Worcester Superior Court. No arraignment date has been set.
Authorities say Lee was a volunteer treasurer for the Ashburnham Westminster Youth Hockey Association in 2010 when he cleaned its account out of $29,000.
The Sentinel & Enterprise (http://bit.ly/J5FdXh ) reports that he was indicted on two counts of larceny of more than $250 by a common scheme.
At his district court arraignment, Lee's lawyer denied the charges.
