LINZ, Austria (AP) _ Second-seeded Iva Majoli of Croatia trounced Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria 6-1, 6-1 Wednesday in the second round of the $450,000 Austrian Open WTA tennis tournament.
Majoli won in less than one hour in the last match of the day. Earlier, two remaining Austrians were eliminated from the tournament.
Italian Siliva Farina ousted Karin Kschwendt 7-5, 6-4 and in a remaining first-round match, eighth-seed Anna Kournikova eliminated Silvia Plischke 5-7, 6-4, 7-5.
Kschwendt was upset by the fact that she was scheduled to play by the tournament management after having played four days in a row in qualifying rounds.
``The tournament director insisted that I had to play again. I can hardly make three steps, my legs are totally tired,'' she said.
Kournikova, 16, who lives in Florida, had to overcome cramps to beat Plischke and advance to play German Barbara Ritter in the second round.
