Woman sentenced to 2 to 8 years in husband's slaying
Sep. 13, 2017
POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A woman has been sentenced to a little more than two years to eight years in prison in the shooting death of her husband which authorities said occurred after he cursed loudly in an argument about her family.
Seventy-year-old Jane Schreiner pleaded guilty earlier this year to voluntary manslaughter in the August 2016 slaying of Kenneth Schreiner in their Kline Township home.
Clinical and forensic psychologist Frank Dattilio said the defendant had endured "verbal, psychological, physical abuse" at the hands of her husband.
Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin called it a difficult case and said the victim "had some part to play" in the defendant's actions.
Defense attorney Joseph Nahas Jr. describes his client as remorseful and distraught and said "She wishes her husband were still alive."
