LONDON (AP) _ No bodies are trapped in the rubble of a collapsed north London apartment building, firefighters said after completing a search of the debris Saturday.

Although authorities could not account for five builders initially feared to have been buried, the London Fire Brigade said they were not in the building.

``We have now sifted though all the rubble and there are no bodies,'' said a Fire Brigade spokesman. ``We have finished the search, and the local authorities are now preparing to shore up what remains of the building.''

A Scotland Yard spokesman said the five men apparently had not been in the three-story building in the Tottenham district when it collapsed Friday, injuring four people.

Workers used hydraulic lifting gear and special listening equipment during more than 20 hours of searching for the builders.

The construction company that employed the builders had been knocking down a wall in a shop on the ground floor.
