SKIPPERS, Va. (AP) — A Virginia State Police spokeswoman says no charges have been filed in connection with a collision between an Amtrak train and a tractor-trailer near the Virginia and North Carolina state line.
Sgt. Michelle Anaya said Friday that state police are still investigating Thursday's crash, which caused the trailer to split in half and left the driver with minor injuries. No passengers or crew members on board the train were injured.
Ronnie Allen, the driver of the tractor-trailer, declined to comment on Friday.
Linda Driver, owner of the truck company, said Thursday that Allen was stopped at an intersection waiting to make a turn before an Amtrak train smashed into it. She said he looked up and down the tracks before crossing and didn't see any trains coming.
